Since picking up a sewing needle at age 4, I've always loved sewing and creating... following my imagination while learning the different skills and technique's that an art form required

Having studied fashion in many different capacities - from working in the Lingerie and Corsetry Industry and now branched away to work independently, I come at this with a wealth of knowledge that I'm excited to share with you.

Regardless of if you are a beginner, need a refresher or sew regularly, I have different projects and short courses that will hopefully tweak your interest and spark your creative side while preparing you to return home and use that machine that you once had big aspirations for, yet now collects dust.

Or are you a small business looking for support with creating Product Specification Packs? I'd love to talk to you as I know how hard it can be trying to get ahead with manufacturers, so I have created a dedicated course for me to take you through the in's and out's of what they will be looking for

These classes and courses are as much about coming to learn from me as they are about being part of a community of like-minded people. Together we create the specified garments, learn transferable skills and build on the foundations that you (may or may not) already have

I'm really happy to have grown the offering of classes from our 2018 term, with the following new classes:

Can you add pockets to a dress? Can you add pockets to a skirt?

We say let’s do it all! All too often clothing we love is created without pockets… and the time is now when it comes to changing this travesty!

In this workshop, Ariane will show you 5 essential shapes for different pockets that will transform any of your garments. Bring along the clothing that you would like to amend, and we will work through upcycling and improving them.

Making Lingerie with Lace

Some of the most beautiful garments ever made have been lingerie. The delicate fabrics and details combine with technical patternmaking to create pieces that can offer comfort and luxury that often isn’t achieved by many other garments in your wardrobe

This course has been created due to special requests from the Australian Lingerie community. During the class you will be taken step by step through how to make your very own bralette

You will be shown tips and tricks for applying lace to the neckline, learn how to make bra straps and work with elastic and applying it to underband (diaphragm)

This is a one-day class designed to inspire and fill you up with tons of tips for being able to re-create these garments again and again

Making a Crop Top

$240 – 12 Hours - 4 Participants - Overlocker

Finding a crop top that you can feel comfortable in, seems to be an eternal search for so many – so now’s the time to take control and create your own

There is going to be two options to pick from - either a crop top or long vest top with an internal shelf

It's up to you if this garment is created with the intention of being worn as lingerie or outerwear, to the gym or on the beach. Create it with sparkles, plain lycra or cotton jersey – we’re sure everyone’s is going to look completely unique by the end

This class is designed to create the perfect top to go with your leggings from either our Basic or Advanced Classes’

Altering Your Own Garments

$90 - 5 hours - 4 Participants - Overlocker / Sewing Machine / Hand Sewing Course

This class has been created to fill the gap between 'I can alter that, let's buy it' to 'Sits in pile for ages never being touched'... So many people I know buy clothing or are gifted it with the intention of making an alteration to it, upcycling, amending it... and then never having the time to do so

Or, have you been wanting to ask Ariane to amend/repair one of your much-loved garments and don't know if she would say Yes? ... now is the time to bring it in and learn how to do it

This is going to be an informal workshop, where you can bring along those items and Ariane will walk you through how to make the changes you want. This is hands-on tuition with the intention of making those garments stop collecting dust and start being worn

Making Lycra Leggings – Basic

$160 – 6 hours – 4 participants – Overlocker Course

Need a Sparkle hit and want it NOW?!

If that’s the case – this short course for making leggings may be perfect for you!

In just two weeks you will complete a stretch garment. Leggings may sound simple - but they are a great starting point for learning how to work with stretch fabrics and once you master them, they will unlock a whole world of garments and possibilities

It’s up to you if you choose to make a sparkly pair, something to wear to the gym or through the day… let your imagination come alive with fabrics you choose

Making Lycra Leggings - Advanced

$240 – 12 Hours – 4 Participants – Overlocker Course

When it comes to sewing, there is often a unicorn in the room: Sewing Stretch fabrics

This is the extended leggings class – meaning you will start to touch on basic pattern making techniques - with the option to add contrast panels into the legs. We will also be altering the pattern to add seam allowances, creating intricate designs to challenge your sewing skill (don’t worry, Ariane will be guiding you) and fitting them to ensure that you leave with the perfect pattern for you to re-make in the future

Upon completion of this class, you will have a great understanding of working with stretch fabrics and the possibilities for what you can make next

Recreating your favourite garment

$190 – 6 Hours – 4 Participants – No machines used

Ever have garment’s that you really love? You wear them to death, and as it starts to fall apart or show signs of ageing, you head back to the store to buy a new one – and it's discontinued!! What to do!!

In this short course, you will learn how to take a pattern from a garment. This will include learning to navigate the tools required, seam allowances and just how you get that pattern onto paper without spending hours unpicking the original

This is a theory and practical pattern making class. It does not include time for sewing and is best completed with a top, dress, skirt or leggings.

Making a Cape or Poncho

$240 – 12 Hours – 4 Participants – Overlocker or Sewing Machine Course

Learn how to make a cape!

This is a classic wardrobe piece and depending on the fabrics chosen you can create a snuglgy winter item, or an out their festival piece

This class will start to touch on basic pattern making techniques - with the option to add panels into the outer of this garment, adding seam allowances to patterns and by adding a lining

Making a Stretch Dress

$240 - 12 Hours - 4 Participants – Overlocker Course

How great is it when you find a dress you love - but want it in every colour? After this class, you will be able to re-create it into as many colours as you want using your own overlocker at home

This class will teach you basic pattern making techniques - with the option of changing the length of the dress - do you like them short, knee length or to the floor? Do you want a V neck, high back, scoop neck...you can decide! We will be adding seam allowances to patterns and adding a lining to the bodice part too.

This dress is designed to be fitted on the body and looser around the skirt – and together we will make sure that the waist sits at the right height for you, along with adding a sleeve if required

Making a Tailored Dress

$400 - 18 Hours - 4 Participants – Sewing Machine Course

For many women wearing a dress is iconic to femininity. Ariane favours a dress over trousers almost every day. She’s excited by the possibilities that something can be so simple to wear yet look so refined. Saying often, that choosing to wear a dress is so much easier than having to style trousers and a top, yet it has the appearance of an outfit that took so much longer to put together

In this tailored dress class, we will start to touch on basic pattern making techniques while creating a classic shift dress. The joy of this style is that it can be amended to add flare to the skirt, change the waist height, amend the neckline, adjust the hem length… the list goes on.

As this dress will be made from woven fabrics, we are going to need to be able to fasten it – so in this class we will learn how to add a zip to the dress. You can choose if you would like it to be a concealed zip or make a statement by having it exposed.

Making a Vest / Waistcoat

$195 - 9 Hours - 4 Participants

Learn how to make a Vest, or as I would call them back home - a waistcoat

Vests are a great item for everyone's wardrobes - and I'm finding they are having a big resurgence in people wanting to wear them - YAY!

This class will start to touch on basic pattern making techniques - with the option of changing the length and shoulder widths - do you want a cropped vest or a long one? you can decide! We will be adding seam allowances to patterns and adding a lining to the so that the garment is beautifully finished both inside and out

This class designed to be completed with a Sewing Machine

Making a Commercially Purchased Pattern

$495 – 17.5 Hours – 4 Participants – Overlocker or Sewing Machine Course

There are so many commercially available patterns to buy, but do you know what to do once you get it home? Understanding the back of the packet and how much fabric to buy can feel like you need to decode a cryptic clue - not to mention once you buy it and start to cut it out

This is a great course for if you want to create your own garments at home or if you are working to develop your own brand but don’t have a foundational knowledge for how garments are made. Ariane will take you through understanding the annotations and information supplied by the pattern company. You will learn about measuring your body and selecting the closest size along with garment ease and how to use the pattern without having to cut it up (meaning it can be used for more sizes in the future). You will also fully construct the garment to be able to take home and enjoy

Option to create: A tracksuit, A dress, Simple jacket or a Floor Length Dressing gown
